In this course, students learn to write personal, narrative essays effectively at the college level. Students improve their use of grammar, vocabulary, and learn to write powerful and effective essays. Students may choose to use essays developed for this course as the basis for the essays they will submit with their college applications.
In addition, the course touches briefly on other types of writing required of college applications including other essay topics, extra-curricular activity descriptions, preparation of the activity list, and "why this college?" type essays. Students also have the opportunity to discuss campus life, American college study methods, and get some guidance in choosing best-fit schools.
The course does not include assistance with preparation of the actual application. Students who take this course in order to apply to college are still responsible for preparing their Essay Writing on their own.

In this course, you will learn the essay writing techniques you need in order to hand-in excellent assignments to your professors. You'll learn how to use footnotes and endnotes, how to cite published works, and how to create a bibliography - all skills that you don't want to go to college without.
Students write at least three major papers during the course and must do all research and prepare the works cited page (bibliography) page. The course will help students accepted to U.S. colleges to feel more confident in their first writing and research methods courses.
